The Airport Health Organization (APHO), Varanasi, in coordination with the Airport Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri International (LBSI) Airport, conducted a high-level briefing and sensitization meeting with key stakeholders to review and strengthen preparedness measures in response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak.
The meeting was attended by representatives from international airlines, Immigration, CISF, and other airport stakeholders, focusing on coordinated action to enhance public health safety at the airport.
Airport Preparedness Reviewed

The meeting was organized following the World Health Organization’s (WHO) declaration of the ongoing Ebola outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Officials carried out a comprehensive review of existing preparedness mechanisms and response strategies.
Focus on Passenger Screening

Special emphasis was laid on strengthening passenger screening protocols to ensure early detection and prompt management of any suspected cases. Stakeholders discussed surveillance measures and operational procedures aimed at minimizing public health risks.
Isolation Workflows Strengthened

The session also reviewed and reinforced isolation workflows and emergency response systems to ensure effective coordination among all concerned agencies in the event of a health emergency.
Stakeholders Sensitized on Health Protocols

Officials sensitized participants about the latest health advisories, reporting mechanisms, and standard operating procedures related to Ebola surveillance and response. The meeting highlighted the importance of preparedness, vigilance, and inter-agency cooperation.
