The 2nd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting was formally inaugurated in Varanasi with a traditional ceremonial lamp-lighting, marking the beginning of an important dialogue on cultural collaboration among BRICS member nations.

During the meeting, representatives from participating countries deliberated on key priorities identified by India under the BRICS Culture Track. Discussions focused on strengthening the creative economy, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting culture-led sustainable development as essential pillars of future cooperation.

Focus on Shared Cultural Priorities

The session provided a platform for member nations to exchange ideas and best practices on leveraging culture as a driver of economic growth, social inclusion, and sustainable development. Delegates highlighted the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage while encouraging innovation within the creative sector.

Broad Participation from BRICS Nations

Delegations from India, Brazil, China, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Iran attended the meeting in person. Representatives from Russia, Ethiopia, and Egypt joined the proceedings through a hybrid mode, ensuring broad participation from across the BRICS grouping.

The meeting serves as a significant platform for enhancing cultural ties among BRICS countries and advancing collaborative initiatives in the cultural sector.
